Turf Paradise is joining the retail sports betting race in Arizona. Thanks to a partnership with Unibet, there is now a temporary retail sportsbook location at the racetrack.
The famous horse racing venue is one of eight sports teams/organizations to get approval from the Arizona Department of Gaming to launch wagering operations.
The Unibet Sportsbook Arizona mobile app is already up and running. With this new in-person betting option opening ahead of Kentucky Derby weekend, we could start seeing more people head out for a day of horse racing.

What Unibet Sportsbook at Turf Paradise has to offer
Turf Paradise, located at 19th Avenue and Bell Road in northeast Phoenix, already holds wagering on live and simulcast horse racing. Now the track, alongside Unibet, is offering betting on other sporting events.
Guests can find the temporary sports betting area on the first floor of the Grandstand in the Paddock Room. There are six betting kiosks and a live teller to cash winning tickets. Twenty-five big-screen TVs cover the room. Furthermore, four monitors are dedicated to the ever-changing odds of sporting events.
“It’s an exciting time for Turf Paradise as we will continue to provide pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing, but also with our partner Unibet, offer another form of wagering on other sports as well,” said Vincent Francia, Turf Paradise’s general manager.
For now, the facility will be open for sports betting from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. However, those hours will adjust during the fall for football season.
The track will continue to add to the AZ Sportsbooks market. A more permanent betting area is in the design stage. It will be located in a large banquet room on the third floor, across from the Turf Club.
Turf Paradise in-person betting launch comes just in time for Kentucky Derby
The Phoenix area’s historic horse racing track is coming upon a very busy time of year, making this the perfect time to open a retail betting space.
On Saturday, May 7, the track will host its final racing day of the season with the Turf Paradise Open Spring Futurity. That will also take place ahead of the Kentucky Derby.
The race has long been known as “The Greatest Two Minutes In Sports.” But this is also the first time Arizonans will have a chance to place wagers on the Derby by using betting apps. Several AZ Sportsbooks are offering specials and bonuses on the big race.
The field is set for this year’s Kentucky Derby. Zandon is a 3-1 favorite on the morning line odds and will be running out of post 10. Epicenter is next up at 7-2, followed by Messier at 8-1.
This is an excellent time for Arizonans to plan a trip out to the famed track. Turf Paradise, considered to be the first sports franchise in the valley, opened in 1956. It is also a great place to watch the Kentucky Derby. However, this time you can get in on the action with a wager.
