The time has finally arrived. The long-awaited date of Sept. 9 has come, and so has legalized sports betting in Arizona.
A handful of online sportsbooks officially launched in the Grand Canyon State during the early-morning hours Thursday. Chief among them was one of the nation’s leaders in regulated wagering: DraftKings Sportsbook.
Complementing its daily fantasy sports offering in the Arizona, DraftKings introduced its mobile sportsbook just in time for the first game of the NFL season.
So, too, did the operator begin offering a big-time bonus for Arizona bettors.
Double your DraftKings sports bet with Arizona Cardinals
Pre-launched Aug. 28, along with its DFS platform, DraftKings Arizona might entice new users to sign up with the sportsbook to grab a $50 bonus bet after making their first deposits. In addition, bettors can get up to a $1,000 deposit bonus.
But wait, that’s not all. As DraftKings goes live in Arizona, it only makes sense for the operator to back the state’s NFL franchise.
After opting in, users will receive a single-use Odds Boost of +100 for either team to score a point in Sunday’s Arizona Cardinals-Tennessee Titans game. So, if you choose to lay the $50 max bet, and either team scores (highly likely), you would come away with $100.
Wagers must be placed before the game kicks off in Nashville, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. PT. User must also select the boost from their bet slips before officially placing those bets. This applies the boosted odds to the wager.
DFS? Check. Sports betting app? Check. Retail sportsbook?
No doubt, it’s worth celebrating DraftKings’ arrival to Arizona.
On the first day it legally could, DraftKings began accepting entries through its AZ daily fantasy sports platform. Similarly, on the first day it legally could, DraftKings joined the crowd of first mobile betting apps in Arizona.
Yet DraftKings has more plans in store.
After all, in April, DraftKings partnered with TPC Scottsdale. This allowed DraftKings to offer regulated wagering in the state. In addition, under terms the deal, DraftKings would integrate a retail sportsbook at the golf course.
Few details have emerged regarding what that brick-and-mortar operation would look like, or even where it would reside at the facility. Still, it’s expected that DraftKings would complement its mobile betting services with a retail sportsbook at the site of one of the most exciting tournaments on the PGA Tour.
