Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing turned into “Win Wednesday” in Arizona. Someone could soon be the state’s next multimillionaire after buying the $473 million Powerball jackpot-winning ticket.
The life-changing lottery ticket was sold in Arizona, proving Lady Luck still has her eye on the Grand Canyon State.
$473.1 million Powerball ticket sold in Gilbert, AZ
According to Arizona Lottery officials, the winning ticket was sold at a QuikTrip in Gilbert, AZ.
The winning numbers for the Powerball drawing are 11, 36, 61, 62, 68 and the Power Ball is 4. The Power Play is 2.
The $473 million is the largest jackpot won on a single ticket in Arizona history. Lottery officials say the jackpot increased from earlier estimates due to strong ticket sales.
Arizona Lottery executive director Gregg Edgar said:
“It is a life-changing moment for this winner. It also means millions of dollars to our state’s economy, to this winner’s community, and to the vital programs and services funded by Arizona Lottery ticket sales.”
The lucky winner can choose between an estimated $473.1 million, paid in 30 payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum payment of $283.3 million.
The jackpot will now drop back to $20 million, with a cash option of $12 million for Saturday night’s drawing.
A 2019 Arizona law specifies that winners of Arizona Lottery prizes of $100,000 or more automatically remain anonymous for 90 days. However, they can choose to remain anonymous permanently.
